In Friday's Child, Sharon, a young prostitute, accosts Alan whilst he is walking home from the office one Friday evening. Impulsively, Alan accompanies her to her nearby flat. But all is not what it seems.

In Friday's Child, Sharon, a young prostitute, accosts Alan whilst he is walking home from the office one Friday evening. Impulsively, Alan accompanies her to her nearby flat. But all is not what it seems.

Alan reveals his motive for going back with her. Sharon finds herself in an unfamiliar situation and is feisty and defiant. In the ensuing encounter, they both reveal something of the culture that has shaped their lives and find that they have something in common.

Friday's Child can also be performed as he first act of the three-act play, Friday's Child, along with Vulnerable and Faking Genuine.

Premiere Production:

Friday's Child was first performed at the Carlton Theatre, Teighnmouth Devon by TOADS Theatre Company in 2013 under the title of Dress Down Friday.

  • ALAN HURST - A middle-aged insurance executive and a local magistrate. Professionally competent, but with a personal diffidence, earnest, with an avuncular manner.
    SHARON - A sex worker, about 19. Pretty, feisty and self-reliant, but displays vulnerability.
