What Jonathan Eagerton doesn't know is that his long-lost brother Dave is about to show up. Jonathan has it all -- success, money, status, home, cars and family, especially family. Son Chip is a major college football prospect. Daughter Amanda, a model student, is popular and successful. Youngest son Matthew is probably the finest classical pianist in affluent Westhaven. Everything is just as Jonathan wants it. That is, until his horseplaying brother Dave shows up.

Opposites in every way, these two brothers parted company years ago and followed paths that certainly led to different places. It doesn't take the free-spirited Dave long to figure out that everything isn't exactly as perfect as brother Jonathan would like the world to believe. The Eagertons may be rich, but their wealth hasn't brought them everything.

It's an uphill battle all the way, but Uncle Dave, using Shakespeare, race horses and a song and dance number, teaches brother Jonathan that there's more to being a father than just having your kids call you "Dad."
